Schools tend to have increased numbers of DSLs trained as the role has grown so much. The Lead DSL can delegate to Deputies but retains lead responsibility.
This training has been delivered by Adam for 8 years for the local safeguarding partnership endorsed in Suffolk. Adam has also delivered for MAT Trusts in London, Independent Schools, Alternative Provisions and Guardianship Organisations. Adam also can deliver sports related Safeguarding Officer training.
Adam makes this training as bespoke as possible for settings so that they can gain the most operational and strategic value out of the training. Training can be delivered online or Face to Face and either as a day or two half days. The content is in line with statutory guidance and Adam always aims to keep it up to date with new legislation and guidance.
The safeguarding landscape has shifted so much and this is reflected. Culture is high on the agenda and leaned experiences from where safeguarding has gone well and wrong as well as Adam’s extensive experience in being an Investigation Officer where safeguarding has been questioned.
Training focuses on The statutory frameworks Keeping Children Safe in Education , Working Together to Safeguard Children and includes:
- guidance updates and their relevance to DSLs
- being an effective DSL
- the role of the DSL
- working with the integrated front door of social services
- the safeguarding chronology
- recording and monitoring,
- child safeguarding practice reviews
- professional curiosity
- child protection conferences
- alternative provision
- inspections
- the management of safeguarding
- reporting about trusted adults – allegations and low level concerns.
Throughout safeguarding culture is a key feature alongside group discussions and DSL voice.
